Within the drug discovery and development process, the Octet platform is being adopted as a faster, more efficient, and more cost-effective alternative to traditional methods in:
- Protein expression monitoring
- Clone selection and screening
- Hybridoma screening
- Epitope mapping, binning and cross-blocking
- Off-rate screening for antibody ranking
- Immunogenicity monitoring
- Small molecule and fragment screening
Automating the Octet assay workflow to accommodate a large number of samples allows for screening thousands of samples and binding interactions with minimal operator intervention, including the liquid handling steps. The Octet RED384, Octet QK384, and Octet HTX systems have been designed for integration with robotic systems to allow for transfers of biosensors, samples, and reagents in and out of the instruments. APIs in the Octet Acquisition software enable operation of the Octet systems by master scheduling software.

Pall ForteBio has collaborated with a number of leading automation providers to deliver automated BLI workflows to customers. Among them are the:
Tecan Freedom EVO® robotic platform, Hudson PlateCrane EX™ robotic arm and Hamilton Micro STAR line.
